Po-Hi Steppers DENTON, Texas -- The Po-Hi Steppers did quite well at the past weekend's national competition at University of North Texas. The team finished overall National Runner-up in the competition and won some national championships in individual categories.

First Lutheran School basketball teams attend tournament

First Lutheran School varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams earned the right and were invited to the 76th annual Lutheran Basketball Association of American (LBAA) tournament in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Both teams attended the opening ceremonies on Thursday, March 21 and competed in their first games on Friday. There were thirty-two teams from across the country in both brackets. The varsity boys fell short in two games losing by nine with a score of 38 to 47 to Norfolk - Nebraska in the first round and by seven points in the second round with a score of 36 to 43 to Parma, Ohio. The boys came to Nationals with a 22-5 record with only 1 loss in regular season. They were coached by Jason Cain and assisted by Jeremy Brey. The girls’ team was made up of six eighth grade students, four from seventh, and one from sixth. They had three close matches. The first game was a loss by five points with a score of 18 to 23 to Hales Corner, Wisconsin. That team ended up in the final four. The Lady Cardinals came out with the win by two points on Saturday with a score of 27 to 25 over Chaska, Minnesota. That evening ended with another close five-point loss with a score of 19 to 24 to Hamburg, Minnesota. The girls were coached by Amanda Porter-Cain.
