Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa student KelseyTheisofLeavenworth, Kansas, recently achieved something many young girls in the Angus breed dream of — she was named Miss American Angus. Theis was crowned at the annual American Angus Association Awards Dinner and Reception Sunday, Nov.

Oklahoma City, OK – Tanner Otto, son of Chad and Bonnie, was awarded 1st place and FFA champion showing his Doublestop CL Plus variety in the 2022 Oklahoma 4-H/ FFA Junior Wheat Show. Otto placed 3rd in production and milling and 14th in baking, earning him the awards. Otto is a member of the Ponca City FFA chapter. Sister, Taylor Otto, placed 6th in the 4-H division and is a member of the K-Pals 4-H club in Ponca City. Taylor also placed 3rd in milling & production and received a plaque.

The 36th Ponca City Leadership Class gathered together on Wednesday, Dec. 14 for their arts and culture day. Leadership Ponca City was founded in 1986 and is third continuous running leadership class behind Tulsa and Oklahoma City. Every year since then, a new class is selected through an open selection process.

The 2022 AARP Oklahoma Andrus Award was presented to Peggy Wilson of Ponca City for her extensive community service and advocacy work on behalf of Oklahomans aged 50+. As the honoree, Wilson received a $3,000 contribution which AARP will donate to Wilson’s nonprofit organization of choice: the McCord Senior Citizen Center.

Ponca City-area volunteers are celebrating the collection of gift-filled shoeboxes that will send a message to children around the world: God loves you, and you’re not forgotten! Thousands of volunteers contributed to Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse by packing shoeboxes filled with fun toys, school supplies, and hygiene items. The global Christmas project will deliver these gifts to children in need.
