I imagine while watching sporting events on TV, you have seen the camera operator focus on some really strangely outfitted fans. My hunch is that the intent of folks dressing up in such a manner is to draw attention to themselves and perhaps get featured on national TV. The announcers at one such recent experience of mine opined as much, saying that some folks will do anything for attention. An old-time announcer added his two cents. “There is nothing new in this. Fans have been doing strange things forever.”
