Little by little the Choctaw Lady Yellowjackets pulled away from the Ponca City Lady Cats to forge out a 46-34 victory Tuesday in Robson Field House.

Choctaw led 14-8 after one quarter, only to see the Lady Cats go in a 6-0 run to tie the score at 14 each in the second quarter. But the Lady Jackets got the lead back and stayed in front the rest of the way. Their lead was 20-16 at the half, and 32-23 after three quarters. Choctaw outscored Ponca City 14-11 in the final period.

The Lady Cat defense was strong, taking Choctaw out of its favorite mode of play, but again turnovers came up to bite Ponca City. Kyra Allison led Ponca City in scoring with 15 points. Emma Gertken had 10. Kate Davis led Choctaw with 12.

The Lady Cats are now 1-6 for the season with the one victory coming at the Tahlequah Invitational last week. Next will be a game with Shawnee in Shawnee on Friday.
