WASHINGTON – Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Oklahoma chapter have joined forces to assist the 1,800 Afghan refugees expected to arrive in the state in the coming months.

Massive renovation work at Ponca City High School is proposed in the Oct. 12 bond project that Ponca City voters will decide on in just a few days. One of the projects is building a new state-of-the-art STEM space in the current Anderson Building.

Northern Oklahoma College completed a five-year project “Merging Tradition and Technology: Engaging Native American and Low-Income Students to Complete College” this fall. The $1.74 million project was funded through the United States Department of Education’s Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institutions (NASNTI) grant program and three key initiatives were led by grant staff to help NOC strengthen and improve existing services; expand access, and develop student support.

Ponca City voters approved a bond project in 2015 to build the new Ponca City Public Schools Concert Hall, replacing the existing Hutchins Auditorium on Fifth Street across from the high school. This concert hall provided the music education program a muchneeded space for performances, contest preparation and the ability to combine ensembles, which is an important part of the education experience.
