The Heather Cannon Honda Wildcat of the Week #5 for the 2021-2022 school year was presented to Po-Hi senior Kalyn Delaney.

Superintendent Shelley Arrott said, “Kalyn lives her entire life by the Wildcat Way. She works extremely hard to promote and instill pride in her school and community. Kalyn is very active with school activities and is a member of the Po-Hi Steppers, is the DECA secretary, serves as the senior class secretary, plays and demonstrates great leadership on the Lady Cat volleyball team, is a STuCo representative and is a manager of the Wildcat baseball team. On top of putting forth her best effort in ALL of these activities, she maintains excellent grades, is enrolled concurrently at NOC, is a member of the National Honor Society AND works about 20 hours a week at the Buckle. Not only does she have impeccable work ethic, but she is humble, sweet and has this calming spirit that sees the best in all of her fellow Wildcats. Kalyn is very helpful and uplifting to everyone she comes in contact with and puts teamwork above herself. She is the perfect example of a Wildcat of the Week and she leads by example for all to follow!”

“Kalyn, you make all of us proud to have you represent us as Wildcat of the Week this week, but you represent your school, all Wildcats and your community with great honor Every. Single. Day. I watch you participate in your activities, and I always beam with pride as you represent us with great enthusiasm and the best sportsmanship. I know your peers, our little Wildcats, our staff and our community are watching you with great admiration, too. Your smile brightens any room and is contagious to everyone around you. Not only do you exhibit the characteristics of the Wildcat Way, but you make the best of any situation and are always happy and bubbly. Your presence just makes everyone around you happier. I was around you for five minutes and I certainly left in a better mood! You are a shining example of what is wonderful in our world during uncertain times. I hear when you graduate, you are going to set your goals on becoming a chiropractor. You will be a wonderful chiropractor because your kindness and you confident, but humble presence, will put all your patients at ease. We would love for you to return to Ponca City to open a practice! Without doubt, great things are in your future. You are an amazing young lady and your family, your school and your community are so very proud of you!”

The “Wildcat of the Week” Award is sponsored by Heather Cannon Honda. The award is for a deserving high school student who follows the characteristics of the Wildcat Way which are Work Ethic, Improve, Leadership, Discipline, Compete, Attitude, and Teamwork.
