ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP The Ponca City Elks Lodge #2002 is announcing the start of the Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship Contest. The Most Valuable Student scholarship is available to high school seniors who are United State citizens.

Every single day, I get emails from readers who seem to be absolutely obsessed with the idea of “maximizing” their Social Security benefits. And frequently, those emails are dripping with anxiety and sometimes almost torment. It’s like these folks are just worrying themselves sick that they might be missing out on a few bucks in potential Social Security benefits.

With a new academic year underway, Jewish college students across America are in receipt of yet more empirical evidence that the anxiety they are experiencing is not a figment of their imaginations. A poll released last week by the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law found that more than 65% of Jewish college kids have felt unsafe on campus because of verbal, social media or physical attacks. Approximately 50% find it necessary to hide their Jewish identity. Almost 70% either personally experienced some form of anti- Jewish assault in the recent past or were familiar with one.

The Ponca City Board of Commissioners met in regular session on September 27, 2021. Mayor Homer Nicholson called the meeting to order, which was followed by the pledge of allegiance. Commissioner Bodick, Commissioner Chapman, Commissioner Scott, and Commissioner Taylor were present.
