Comically Serious By Calley Lamar After making her debut in the Disney+ “Hawkeye” series back in 2021, it was known for a while that the character of Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) would be receiving her own series in “Echo”, which debuted earlier this week with all the episodes dropping at once. The show is also the first under the Marvel Spotlight banner, which is meant to be focused on more grounded stories with less impact on the overall Marvel universe.

Silver Tea Scholarship fundraiser

The Ponca City Federated Music Club cordially invites the public to attend a concert given by past scholarship winners as well as outstanding musicians from the area. This program is a fund raiser for the PCF Music Club scholarship fund. It will take place at 2 pm on Sunday Jan. 21 in the Sanctuary at First Presbyterian church, 1505 E Grand Ave, Ponca City. Following the concert, there will be an elaborate reception in the Fellowship Hall. This will be an opportunity to meet the performers and enjoy the social time.

Movie review: ‘The Beekeeper’ a wacky, self-aware action outing with Jason Statham

For a certain type of action movie fan, it’s the most wonderful time of the year: January pulp trashterpiece season. Last year, that slot was occupied by the lean, mean flying machine “Plane,” starring Gerard Butler; this year, it’s the off-brand “John Wick” ripoff “The Beekeeper,” starring Jason Statham and directed by David Ayer.

The Hideaway hosts Addison Lea Thompson

On Saturday, Jan. 13, The Hideaway Bar and Grill is bringing in a highly anticipated live performance for those in attendance. The Addison Lea Thompson Band is one that has begun to make a name for themselves over the past few years and is now sitting on the Texas Radio Top 100 Charts with the hit song “Throw My Ashes In The Wind.” According to his website, music has been a part of Thompson’s life for as long as he could remember.

Ponca Playhouse announces the third show of their 65th Season with the modern production Mr. Burns: A Post-Electric Play, by Anne Washburn. Director Sam Stuart says, “I don’t think the Playhouse has done anything like it, and I’m excited to see the audience’s response to it.” Stuart emphasizes the themes of storytelling and community.
