Keith G Hanson, 80, of Ponca City, OK, formerly of North Platte, NE , died September 27, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK.

He was born October 14,1942 in Cozad, Nebraska, to Edward Howard Hanson and Mildred Emma Jolliffe Hanson.

He attended North Platte Public Schools graduating from high school in 1961.

He started working for Sixth Street Food Stores in high school. He advanced to produce manager at Westfield Sixth Street and later managed the Sixth Street Food Store on the north side..

He was drafted into the United States Army August 12, 1964 and served until July 22, 1966. He was later called up for Standby Reserve and received his Honorable Discharge August 11, 1970.

On July 21, 1968, he married Mary Marguerite Durbin. A baby girl, was born December 16, 1973, whom they named Andrea Lyn. On August 3, 1976, they were blessed with another daughter, Melissa Ann.

Keith was very proud that he served on the planning committee which resulted in the approval for building of the new North Platte High School.

He became property manager for Key Estates in July1996 and worked there until his retirement in July 2006.

In May 1, 2009, the couple moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma.

He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post in North Platte and Post 14 in Ponca City. He also served on the Election Board and was a crossing guard at West Middle School.

Keith loved to watch Nebraska football, betting on horses with his wife, Mary, watching his granddaughters, Michelle and Ashley play sports, going fishing with his grandsons, Kaden and Brandon, and playing UNO with his grandsons, Jacob and Joey. He was always up for a good joke and was a storyteller.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Andrea (Arlis) Blake of Tryon, NE and Melissa Van Fleet (partner Wes Cornelison) of Ponca City, OK; 2 granddaughters, Michelle Lopez (partner Tisha) of TX and Ashley Lopez (fiancee Miles Johnson), of Omaha, NE, 4 grandsons, Kaden Glen and Brandon Blake of Tryon, NE, Jacob James and Josiah Paul Van Fleet of Ponca City, OK and 1 great-granddaughter, Haizley of TX, a sister, Sueann (David) Blaylock, of Arvada, CO, sister-in-law and brother- in-law, Norma (Ken) Wills of Hanford, CA, sister-in-law, Janalee Hanson of Gladstone, Mo, and. numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother, his brother, Eddie Hanson, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Inurnment services will be graveside at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE at a later date with military honors.
