On Mon., May 8, Frontier Student, Jamie Molina, signed with Cowley College to become a member of their softball team. After spending her high school career working diligently towards her goals, Jamie Molina is now seeing the rewards of that work come into fruition.

To begin her list of achievements, Jamie was inducted into the National Honor Society, Oklahoma Indian Honor Society, and Superintendent’s Honor Roll in 2020. Her accomplishments didn’t stop there, in fact they continued to grow each year. In 2021 she received the Outstanding Student Award and continued in the National Honor Society that year, as well as continuing to be a member of the Oklahoma Indian Honor Society until 2022 and is still a member of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. In 2023, she was named Salutatorian of her class and those are just the academic achievements that Jamie has accomplished.

Jamie is also involved in several clubs and extracurriculars on campus, including being Class President, Student Council President, FCA, FITYC, Pep Club, Fccla, and about emery sport that her school offers.

From Cross Country and Track, to Basketball and Softball, Jamie has extreme talent when it comes to sports. To prove that, since 2019 Jamie has been apart of the basketball 89’er all conference team and in 2023 alone she has been awarded fastpitch alternate all-stater, slow-pitch alternate allstater and OCA basketball all-stater.

When asked about what has driven her to continue to play sports, Jamie said,” Since a young age, I have always wanted to play at the next level. I’ve seen countless number of people continue their journey with sports in college and succeed. Me and my grandpa always talked about me playing at the next level when I got older and after he passed I felt responsible of living that dream out, not only for me, but for him.”

“I would like to thank my family for supporting me in everything I do. I would not be where I am today without their encouragement and love.” Throughout her interview, Jamie continued to bring up her family. It showed how much she loves and respects them all and how grateful she is to all of them for their support in her life. Jamie chose Cowley College not only because it is still close to her home and family, but because she loved the atmosphere at the campus.

Her softball coach, Justine Wichman, had nothing but amazing things to say about Jamie. “JD is a spectacular ball player, but even better person. I had the honor to coach Jamie in my program these past couple seasons. Her presence will be missed and mostly her work ethic and leadership! It’s not very often that you are blessed to have a young woman in your program as athletic and posed as her. When the game was on the line I was always hoping she was up to bat or ready to make the big defensive play. Cowley College gat a great one. She legitimately has the best arm and can play any position! Not to mention her power hitting and fearless at bats. The frontier community is excited to watch her do big things in the near future. We are extremely proud of you, JD! Jamie’s future no matter what career path she chooses will be more than extraordinary. Her high standards and academic achievements will take her incredibly far. The world is about to know ‘my JD’.”
