Baseball Wildcats lose to Sapulpa

Sapulpa broke out on top Thursday and held its lead for the duration of Thursday’s game, winning 4-1 over the Ponca City Wildcats at the Po-Hi baseball field.

Sapulpa scored two runs in the first, one in the second and one in the fourth innings. Ponca City got its lone run in the first.

Hayden LeClair started on the mound for Ponca City and worked all seven innings of the game. He allowed five hits and one earned run while walking two and striking out four.

Sapulpa outhit the Wildcats 5 -3. Teegan Hodgson had two of the Ponca City hits while Brody Wicker had the other.

In the Ponca City first inning, Wicker led off with a single. Colton Jones moved Wicker to second with a sacrifice bunt. Hodgson followed with a single and Wicker advanced to third base and later scored on a wild pitch.

The Wildcats committed three errors. Next for Ponca City is participation in games against Oologah and Bartlesville at Bartlesville Friday.
