A Celebration of Life for Kathern Harman will be held on Saturday, July 25th at 2 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2800 Turner St., Ponca City. Kathern left her earthly family on May 20th to join her heavenly family, following declining health issues and a stroke. A private graveside service was held for immediate family earlier.

Kathern’s family invites friends & family to come celebrate her life in our community. In respect for each other’s health, the family ask those attending to wear a mask & if you don’t have one, mask & gloves will be provided.

Kathern & Leon along with their 3 oldest daughters moved to Ponca City from Edmond, Ok in 1956 when Leon took a job with Continental Oil. Since living in Ponca City, Kathern not only helped raise their 5 daughters, she also had many foster children & daycare children come through her front door. Upon retirement, Kathern enjoyed spending time with her beloved Leon & serving her community.

She helped Leon deliver bakery goods to various nonprofit organizations. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and enjoyed being involved in various fellowship opportunities.

The good Lord blessed Kathern with 5 daughters, Delores & Earl Shortridge, Kathleen & Pete Hopkins, Sandra Foster, Brenda & Shawn Lewis, and Linda & Roger Kelle, 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She loved each and every one of them, and would let you know if you forgot to give her a hug. The love she had for her family beamed from the smile she gave every time she was able to spend time with each of them.

Kathern is also survived by her sister Doratha Mason & numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, an infant brother, husband Leon & grandson Kyle Foster.
