Body

James Leroy Colburn 74 of Blackwell, Oklahoma, entered into eternal rest at his home on September 17th, 2023. He was born to John Clayton Colburn and Jane Ann Sanders Colburn on January 29th, 1949, in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

James was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969. After returning to the United States, James worked as a roughneck around the country until retiring back to Oklahoma. James married Linda Lou Collins September 2013 in an Indian ceremony in Greensburg, Kansas, officiated by a chef in a teepee. James embraced his Indian heritage eagerly, teaching others about it. This included the teepee that sat in his backyard for many years. James and Linda would go on adventures looking for arrowheads while exploring each casino in their path. They were soulmates for a lifetime. When Linda passed away in 2018, a big part of James went with her. The love this man had for her for over 40 years is something some people only fantasize about and never get to experience. Their lives took them in different directions, but the love they never lost brought them back to one another.

James is survived by 3 sons: Sascha Colburn and his wife Sandra of Dersekow, Germany; Christopher Culler of Dallas, Texas, and Randall Hall of Oklahoma 2 brothers, Mike Colburn and wife Agnes of Killeen, Texas and Robert Colburn and wife Debbie of Blackwell, Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Lucille Hale; and his sister-in-law, Cathy Yates, both of Minneola, Kansas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his lifetime soulmate, Linda Lou, and both of his parents.

Full military funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 27th at 11 am at First Baptist Church in Blackwell, Oklahoma with Pastor Cody Biby officiating. Remembrances may be shared online at www.stittsworthfuneralservices.
