Kay County 4-H Livestock Judging Team members awarded jackets and buckles

The Kay County 4-H Livestock Judging Teams were honored to receive the jackets for their Champion Junior and Senior Team wins at the Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest. More than 1300 kids competed for a chance to win the jackets on September 16, 2021. The jackets were generously sponsored by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers. Gayle Hobaugh, a parent of one of the team members said, “Its wonderful sponsors like Oklahoma Farm Bureau who continues to support the youth that makes the Agriculture community continue to thrive.”

Coach Buellesfeld presented of the buckles won at the CUTS contest in Cherokee, Oklahoma November 19, 2021. Reid Buellesfeld was the Champion Senior Individual and Bodie Jeffries was the Champion Junior Individual. The buckles were also sponsored by Oklahoma Farm Bureau. Coach Rick Buellesfeld complimented the livestock judging teams by saying, “Hard work doesn’t guarantee a win, but it goes a long way towards preventing a loss and these kids live by that.”

Members on the junior team are: Bodie Jeffries (Peckham), Jessica Hobaugh (Peckham), Levi Kubik (Newkirk), and Jordyn Smith (Blackwell). Members on the senior team are: Reid Buellesfeld (Blackwell), Josie Doshier (Woodlands), Hattie Steichen (Ponca City), and Tucker Jeffries (Blackwell).

The Kay County Farm Bureau Board of Directors were privileged to host the awarding of the well-earned jackets and buckles to the Kay County 4-H Livestock Judging Teams at their monthly meeting Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
