Hospice of North Central Oklahoma will be holding a volunteer training session on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 445 Fairview Avenue in Ponca City. The training session will cover several aspects of being a Hospice volunteer.

Opportunities for volunteers include office help, mailings, fundraisers and providing companionship. Patient volunteers provide companionship to patients, clean and/or deliver durable medical equipment, do errands or go shopping with or for patients, staying with a patient to allow the caregiver to get away for a moment, provide transportation, prepare and/or deliver flower to patients, and provide pet therapy.

Volunteers help in many ways including working at the front reception desk answering phones, fold mailers throughout the year, address envelopes, put together welcome packets, prepare patient care packets, make copies, office work, and help with fundraising events.

The schedule for the day will include the following: 9 am to 12 pm - Video Trainings 12 pm to 1 pm - Lunch 1 pm to 4 pm - Meet Hospice staff and tour the building To participate in this training, call the Hospice office at 580-762-9102 or email Judy at jbales@hospiceofnco.com to register. Registration must be made by Thursday, Feb. 16.
