All registered seniors at the Ponca City Senior Center in the community are receiving packets in the mail.

The Senior Center would also like seniors to know that they are more than happy to mail packets to seniors in our area, even if you are not registered with the Senior Center.

These packets include word searches, a U.S. Map and coloring pages. You may complete the word search and write your name on it. It may be brought to the Center when they reopen. At that time of reopening, all word searches will be put in a hopper and one name will be pulled out for a gift card. The coloring pages that are mailed may be colored and brought back to the Center when they reopen to be entered into a coloring contest as well.

The maps portion of the packet can be used to color all the states you have visited.

Another activity seniors can participate in, which is also included in the packet, is Senior Bingo. There are two separate bingo sheets, one for this week and one for next week. Every morning, just after 8 a.m. on KPNC, Sean Anderson will call three numbers. If you bingo, call the Center at 763-8051 and the game ends that week or until there is a winner.

“Sean does a great job making it fun. Prizes will be free Friday meals when we reopen,” said Marie Trenary, programming specialist of The Senior Center.

Also included in the packet is an At-Home Scavenger Hunt. The rules are simple. You must be able to put your hands on the item listed.

Each week the Senior Center will be adding programming ideas for additional packets. The Ponca City Senior Center’s staff goal is to help in a fashion to brighten the days as we travel this journey.

The Senior Center staff will also assist in completing the Census by phone for seniors. Their computers are set up to visit the Census website and enter information. For assistance with your Census please call the center between the hours of 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
