Deer Creek to hold 125th anniversary celebration

Deer Creek, located between Medford and Blackwell, will be celebrating the 125th anniversary of the town’s founding on Saturday, July 15. This is the first such celebration since 1998, during which the town turned 100.

Celebrations will include a variety of events including a parade, food, shopping the Deer Creek Mercantile, and local vendors, with other events to be announced.

Events will begin at 9:30 am, with the parade beginning at 10:30 am.

The parade is open for anyone that wishes to participate without the need to pre-register. Those wishing to participate in the parade are advised to arrive before 10:30 am on Saturday.

The Deer Creek Volunteer Fire Department will be making lunch with hamburgers and hotdogs for their fundraiser.

Games will be set up including cornhole, volleyball, ring toss, and more.

Additionally, over 30 vendors are expected at the event with boutiques, handmade crafters, sign makers, homemade jam, Scentsy, a snowcone bus and others expected to attend.

This event is being sponsored by The Deer Creek Mercantile, Schnebele & Company, & The Deer Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Deer Creek is located just about 35 miles from Ponca City, 45 miles from Enid, and approximately an hour south of Wichita, Kansas and 1.5 to 2 hours from Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
