Disaster relief for Barnsdall

Living in tornado alley, most Oklahomans have had some experience with tornadoes. From shelter in place orders to damages done to homes, the people of Kay county have and always will be affected by these natural disasters. Unfortunately, our neighbors to the east have seen the worst of the danger of tornadoes. On May 6, Barnsdall was hit with a tornado that the national weather service has given the preliminary rating of an EF4. One citizen was left dead and another missing in the wake of this disaster, the rest of the community is picking up the pieces of their lives.

Kay County Commissioners restructure fair board

The Kay County Township Free Fair Association has long governed the Kay County Free Fair as well as the Kay County Junior Livestock Show, both held at the Kay County Fairgrounds in Blackwell. The Kay County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) has recently voted to restructure the board, creating a new system that is expected to be more effective in operating the fair and livestock shows long into the future.

Zelenskyy says Russia is attempting a new offensive near Kharkiv

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia started a new offensive around his country’s second-biggest city as Kremlin forces moved to breach the border in the northeast. Artillery has so far been able to repel the assault in the Kharkiv region, Zelenskyy said during a meeting with Slovak President Zuzana Caputova in Kyiv on Friday.
