This week’s cat of the week is slightly different than most weeks. That is because this week, is double the cat and fun. Scorpio and Pisces, the adorable boys you see pictured are a bonded pair. These brothers came to the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society as babies and were lucky enough to be adopted together, unfortunately that adoption didn’t work out and they were returned in March. Now, they are looking for their forever home and they would make a perfect addition to any home. They are extremely friendly and loving, but also very curious. They love people, treats, playing, and nap time. They are nearly two years old and they are just looking for someone who will love them for the rest of their lives. This week’s dog of the week is one we have seen before, but he is back and better than ever. Copper is a nearly two year old hound mix who has been with the humane society since March of 2022. When he came to the facility, Copper was understandably very frightened and nervous. He calmed down some, but there was still work to be done. In seeing this, the people of NOKHS decided that he would be a great candidate for the Mabel Bassett Correctional Center dog training program. This program gives inmates the opportunity to work with local rescue animals and train them before they are adopted. The rescue dogs live with the inmates for several weeks, where they work together on training, grooming, and helping them prepare to be adopted. Since his stay at Mabel Bassett Correctional Center, Copper has come back with several new commands and a much happier attitude. That being said, Copper is still an anxious dog and he is even on medications now for that to make him feel more comfortable. Copper is a sweet boy who loves to play fetch and spend time outside. He is good with other dogs and he loves people once he feels comfortable enough around them to relax. He is a great dog and is just looking for someone to give him a chance at forever.
