TULSA -- Sand Springs was the winner of the Class 6A District Duals held Tuesday in Tulsa Union’s UMAC.

The Sandites won three duals to capture the title and advance to the Class 6A Dual State Tournament.

Ponca City, the defending district champion, lost three relatively close duals to finish at 0-3. Competing in the event were Sand Springs, Ponca City, Tulsa Union and Deer Creek of Edmond.

In aa dual that went down to the final match, Sand Springs edged the Ponca City Wildcats 39-34. Ponca City another very close dual to Union 40-36, with the dual going down to the last match. Deer Creek topped the Wildcats 48-35. Deer Creek also topped Union and finished 2-1 in the event.

The dual that sent Sand Springs to the State wasn’t very close, with the Sandites defeating Union 48-25.

Sand Springs finished the district with a 3-0 record, Deer Creek was 2-1, Union was 1-2 and the Wildcats, who were in tight competition in each dual, finished 0-3.
