Former Ponca City Lady Cat basketball standout Mica Havens Estrada has been named head girls coach at Po-Hi.

In an announcement by the Ponca City Public Schools, it was noted that the appointment is pending official approval by the PCPS Board of Education.

Estrada replaces Jody Fincher, who is taking a job as principal of Liberty Elementary School in Ponca City. She served as the varsity assistant coach since August, 2017.

Estrada was the leading scorer on the 2010 Ponca City Lady Cat team that qualified for the Class 6A State Basketball Tournament. Under the direction of Coach Dwight Winburn, that Lady Cat team was the first Po-Hi team to qualify for a state tournament since the 1980s. She was named to the All-State team that year.

The new Lady Cat coach attended Oklahoma Christian University from 2010-2014 and played basketball four years there.

She has served as a varsity assistant coach since 2017, was head junior high coach in Ponca City from 2014-2018 and has been varsity assistant coach for track and field at Po-Hi since 2019. She was the business owner of Marry Me Bridal Botique from 20142019.

Estrada was quoted as saying, “It is such an honor to be selected as the next head coach for the Lady Cat basketball team. I grew up in the program and am so excited for the opportunity to have an impact on the future of the basketball team. I treasure my time spent playing for the Lady Cat basketball team and hope to instill that passion in my players for the upcoming years.”
