A huge second half put together by the visiting Choctaw Yellowjackets doomed the Ponca City Wildcat boys team 76-43 Tuesday at Robson Field House.

The Wildcats started well, and trailed by only two, 13-11 after one quarter. But then Choctaw began its move in the second quarter and outscored Ponca City 11-4 to lead 24-15. The Wildcat defense did a good job stymieing the powerful Choctaw offense in the first half. But in the second half, things went south for Ponca City as Choctaw scored 26 points in each the third and fourth quarters. Ponca City had its best offensive production in the second half, scoring 14 points in each period. But it fell far short of the necessary points to overcome the Yellowjacket lead.

The Wildcats came off of a good performance over the weekend in the Cleveland tournament winning two games and finishing second. Their record is now 2-4 for the season.

Tay Moore led the Wildcats in scoring with 17 points. Also in double figures was Mason Meador with 12.

Ja’Mon Valentine led Choctaw with 21 points.

Next for Ponca City will be Shawnee Friday in Shawnee.
