Imogene Louise Crawley, née Burgess, passed away peacefully at home in Punta Gorda, FL, on September 14 at 95 years of age. Born in June, 1928, in Grainola, OK, to Isom and Elva Burgess, Imogene spent her youth in Hardy, OK, graduating from Kaw City High School in 1946. On a family trip to Pyote, TX, Imogene met her lifelong love and partner, Clarence James Crawley, whom she married in September, 1947. From Pyote, CJ and Imogene moved their family, ultimately to include four sons, to Houston and Dallas, TX, Broken Arrow, OK, and Germantown, TN. After retiring and living the RV life for several years, they settled on Lake Catherine near Hot Springs, AR, where they routinely entertained, amused, and delighted any, and often all, of their nine grandchildren. In her last years, Imogene lived in Punta Gorda with her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Pat Crawley.

Imogene was greatly loved by her family and all who knew her. Her quick, genuine smile and easy laugh were a gift to everyone. She and CJ delighted in travel and golf, making lifelong friends at every new course and port along the way. She spent hours playing cards and dominos with family and friends alike. Her grandchildren quickly learned if you sat down at the table with “Mawmaw”, you had best bring your A game. She had a steely resolve in teaching them the lessons that only defeat at the hands of your grandmother can give.

Most importantly, Imogene was a woman of faith who trusted in God’s love for her and was confident of His interest and guidance in her life, which she demonstrated amply through her loyal and faithful love of her family, her friends, and her church. She is preceded in death by her husband CJ and two sons, Richard Glenn of Tulsa, OK, and Bradley Gene of Hot Springs, AR. In addition to Jim and Pat of Punta Gorda, FL, she is survived by son Wayne Crawley and his wife Melinda Wales of San Antonio, TX, as well as nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A private service will be held. Donations may be directed to the New Life Church in Punta Gorda FL or Diamondhead Community Church, Hot Springs, AR in Imogene’s memory.
