Harold Duane Riechers passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at age 88, surrounded by family at Eden Care of Edmond, OK. Viewing will be Friday, April 19, 2024, from 10 am - 12 pm at Trout Funeral Home, 505 W Grand, Ponca City, OK. There will be a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park, 1901 East Hubbard Road in Ponca City on Friday, April 19, at 2 pm. Harold’s children will be hosting a Celebration of Life reception at The Harvest Hall, 201 N Second Street, Ponca City, OK, following the service.

Harold was born on February 15, 1936, in Clay Center, KS, to Charles and Naomi Riechers. He graduated from Kansas State University where he played on the Wildcat football team and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. While at KSU, he married his high school sweetheart Winifred “Ruth” McConnell. In addition, Harold earned an MS degree in Chemical Engineering from Kansas University. He began his career with Continental Oil Company (later Conoco) in 1967. He lost his wife, Ruth, to cancer in 1970 leaving him a single father to their three children, Patti, Paul, and Jenifer.

After 14 years of focusing on raising his children, Harold found his next love in Donna Marie Williams Kirtley. They married in 1984. Harold and Donna later adopted their daughter, Amanda. Harold and Donna lived in Ponca City, Owasso, Oklahoma City, and most recently Edmond. Harold was an active member of Presbyterian, Methodist, and Disciples of Christ churches at various times in his life. Harold and Donna participated in various volunteer opportunities while active church members. In his retirement, Harold enjoyed reading and genealogy. He and Donna loved to watch sports and travel. They also enjoyed their time as docents at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

He is survived by: his loving wife of 40 years, Donna, of Edmond, OK. He is also survived by: his children, Patti Riechers of Oklahoma City, OK, Paul Riechers (Tina) of Mansfield, TX, Jenifer Schieber (Toby) of Newkirk, OK, and Amanda Riechers of Plano, TX; his sister, Charlene Still (Jon) of Germantown, TN; grandchildren, Megan Sublett (Josh), Matthew Riechers, Jared Schieber (Derion), Katelyn Schieber, and Natalie Riechers; great-grandchildren, Luke Schieber and Ava Schieber; his nephew, Eric Still (Terri) of Germantown, TN, and his niece, Melissa Still of Germantown, TN. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Naomi (Ruth), and his first wife, Winifred “Ruth”.
