Dene was born in Fifty-Six, Arkansas on Sept. 28, 1932. At a young age she moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma with family and attended school in Ponca City. This is where she met J. B. Fuller and they were married on January 19, 1950. When J.B. went into the Marines they moved to Camp Pendleton, California for two years. Upon his discharge they returned to Oklahoma and eventually built a new home and settled in Ponca City. In 1971 she opened Dene’s Stork Shop and owned it until she retired at age 55. She married Marion Fredricks, Sr. on November 11, 1977.

Dene was a member of the Ponca City Chamber of Commerce, Ponca City Mothers Club, and First Baptist Church. She was very active in her church and served in many positions during her 47 year membership. Dene was a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher when she was younger; later she was a Wedding Coordinator, Clothing Closet Director, Social Activities Director for her Sunday School class, and a great prayer warrior. You didn’t know Dene very long before she was asking if you are a Christian and inviting you to come to church with her.

Dene enjoyed sewing and made all of Rhonda and Brenda’s clothes as children. She loved decorating and the family laughed that she kept Hobby Lobby in business. After her retirement she loved traveling, including going on cruises. Dene was a great cook and enjoyed trying new recipes.

The love of her life was her little dog, Allie. She was once told she loved her more than she loved her daughter, her quick reply was a smile and, “well, I paid more for the dog.”

Services are at First Baptist Church, Ponca City on November 29th at 1:00 p.m. All friends, old customers, and family are welcome. Burial will be at Oddfellows Cemetery in Ponca City.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church or The Alzheimers Association in rememberance of Dene.
