Connie Jo Smith was born on October 29, 1957 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Cecil and Lois Keeler. She was called to be with the Lord while in her home with her husband and son by her side August 12, 2023. Service will be 1pm, Friday, August 18, 2023, Church of the Nazarene, 1900 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK.

Connie married the love of her life Douglas Alan Smith on May 30, 1975. They welcomed their son on February 4, 1977. Connie worked many jobs including waitressing at the local bowling alley, working daycare teacher, cooking at Conoco, and retiring as a cook for St. Mary’s school. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling with her son and husband, visiting amazing places such as Mount Rushmore, Sturgis and the beautiful mountains of Colorado. She spent many evenings playing cards with friends and family. She loved cooking delicious meals and desserts for her family and friends to enjoy. If you left her house hungry it was your own fault. You could always find her at the casinos with her siblings Gary and Donna, there she won a Jeep Wrangler. She loved feeding the humming birds and watching her great grandchildren and count them through the window where also a curious squirrel came to watch what the humans were doing. She loved to write poetry (although she never shared), and her great niece Cassy Kendrick just recently put music to a song that she wrote. She loved her cooking shows and her favorite show of all was Judge Judy.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Douglas Alan of Ponca City, her son StevenWayne of Burbank, mother in law Erma Vance, Roy Edwards of Ponca City, her grand children Guner and Sierra Smith of Ponca City, Kelsi Smith and Reinaldo Torres Torres of Ponca City, niece Brenda and husband Chris Stephenson of Ponca City and so many great grandchildren, cousins and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father Cecil and Lois Keeler, siblings Gloria Taylor, Gary Keeler, father in law, Bill Smith, sister in law Verline Keeler,Donna Keeler and Cletus Keeler Sr. Both her and her husband were so blessed. She loved her family beyond measures. The family would like to thank Hospice of North Central for their gracious care of our cherished Connie.
