Charlie Fields came into this world on May 29, 1948, and left this life on January 11, 2023. He was the oldest of four children born to Edgar and Doris Fields. Charlie graduated from Po-Hi in 1967. He then attended Northwestern State University in Alva, OK graduating in 1971.

After working for C.R. Anthony for several years, Charlie returned to Ponca City where he bought Lakeside Grocery. He owned and operated Lakeside Grocery for 30 years. He sold minnows that were “guaranteed to catch fish or die trying”. Anyone who stopped in at Lakeside can tell you a story or will have an entertaining memory of talking to Charlie.

After closing the store, the light in his eye and smile on his face was for his grandkids. Whether it was listening to or watching Breydon, Dax and Parker play ball, enjoying one of Cash’s smoked meals, or his excitement of Kylie giving him his first great-grandchild. Charlie’s heart was full.

Charlie is survived by: his loving wife Becky; his brother, Ed Fields; his devoted son, Josh & wife Jessica; his vibrant daughter, Lily & husband Doug, his precious daughter, Storm; his grandkids, Kylie, Breydon, Cash, Dax, and Parker, and his great-granddaughter Blakelee. He will be remembered and missed by his best friend, JC Rainwater, and so many other friends.

He was proceeded in death by: his parents, Edgar & Doris Fields; his sister, Vi Ann Waite; brother, Wesley Fields, and sister-in-law, Anna Fields.

Memorial Service for Charlie will be February 4, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the Carolyn Renfro Event Center. To those who are willing, the family asks that you bring a short, prepared memory to share. For those who have a story but don’t want to speak it, we will be pleased to read it for you.
