Shannon Leatherman, lifelong Kay County resident, has filed to run for District 3 of the Kay County Board of Commissioners.

He graduated from Braman High School and attended Northern Oklahoma College.

He spent 13 years with the ConAgra Foods Inc. Flour Milling Division. He was responsible for the procurement of grain from local producers and cooperatives and managed daily logistics of inputs and outputs of products. He also managed daily scheduling of all milling production. He also spent time working in contract negotiations between local Union and company officials.

He spent two years with the Blackwell Coop Association as a branch manager of Bender and Braman and five years as the general manager of RN Concrete Products. Leatherman applied for and received RN Concrete Products with a U.S. Government System of Awards Management (SAM) number. This allowed RN the ability to bid on tribal proj- ects. RN was awarded close to 100 tribal contracts in four years, one being the largest aerobic contract for multiple units in a single bid.

He has been employed at his present job with Ground Zero, which specializes in tornado shelter systems, for the past eight years.

“The people of Kay County deserve someone to fight for them,” said Leatherman. “I love Kay County and have spent my life here. Kay County deserves honest leaders not afraid to tell the truth and someone that can make the hard decisions. My commitment is to be a voice representing the whole county and do what is best for all our citizens.”

He has three children: Mason, Amelia and Lainey Leatherman.
