Two Wilcats named to All-Star baseball
Two Ponca City Wildcat baseball players are among those who have received special honors for the 2020 season.
Wildcat seniors Aaron Hosack and Eli Wohl’s names are among those selected tor the Class 6A East All Star team by the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association.
The selections were made despite the fact that most teams played only three or four games.
The baseball season, along with all other spring sports, were suspended as part of Oklahoma schools response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hosack was a pitcher and third baseman for the Wildcats. Wohl played in center field and was used as a relief pitcher.
Both players have plans to play baseball at the next level and have signed letters of intent.
Hosack will take his pitching skills to Connors State in Warner and Wohl is due to head north to Arkansas City, Kan., to play at Cowley College.
Both players were off to a good start in the short season. Hosack pitched twice, defeating Muskogee and Jenks in games where the opponents got only three or fewer hits.
Wohl also made his mark at the plate and running bases.
Casey Love is the Ponca City head baseball coach. Assistants are Jeremy DeNoya, Stoney Parks, Cory Campbell and Cory Burkett.
