The Ponca Sailfish Swim Team will hold a swimming clinic for children ages 8-18, Monday Sept. 21 through Friday Sept. 25 at the Ponca City RecPlex.

The event is for anyone in that age group who is interested in joining the Sailfish Swim Team. The clinic will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. each day. Cost for the clinic is $50 which includes a pair of Speedo goggles. Swim caps will be available for an additional $5 for those interested,

This is not an event in which one learns how to swim. Participants should be able to swim the length of a 25-yard pool and should be able to tread water for 30 seconds. Space in the clinic is limited to 30 participants. The focus of the clinic will be to introduce the four competitive strokes--butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and free style. Instruction will include understanding proper body position in the water, streaming, kicking and pulling. Anyone who desires to join the swim team after the clinic’s conclusion will have the opportunity to swim with the team during practices the following week from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at no cost.
