Two Ponca City High School golfers placed in the upper half of competition in recent Class 6A State Golf Tournaments.

In the Class 6A Boys Tournament held at Jimmy Austen Golf Club in Norman, Wildcat Brady Wicker placed in a tie for 23rd in a field of 72 golfers.

Wicker shot rounds of 84, 77 and 77 for a total of 238. The individual winner was Grant Gudgel of Stillwater with a score of 75-70-73--218. Second was Leyton Kyle of Norman North with 71-76-74--221. Norman North won the team title and Edmond North was second. Wicker played as an individual.

In the earlier Class 6A Girls Golf Tournament at Lincoln Park West in Oklahoma City, Ponca City’s Kate Clark placed in a tie for 24th in a field of 72. She shot rounds of 85 and 86 for a score of 171. Winning the individual title was Rylee Roberts of Edmond North, with rounds of 73 and 70 for a total of 152. Second was Lily Stanton of Jenks with 77-76-153. Jenks won the team championship with Edmond North in second place.

Two other Ponca City girls, Emma Bartley and Ava Roche also competed. Bartley’s score was 214 and Roche posted a 223.
