KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Patrick Mahomes’ mother Tweeted during the Chiefs’ 22-17 victory over the Browns in Sunday’s divisional round that Mack Wilson played “trash football” when he hit her son and knocked him out of the game, but Mahomes later seemed to absolve Wilson from wrongdoing.

“#51 Wilson that’s some trash football leading with helmet, pulling his head and pushing helmet...why are you not thrown out!?? Come on NFL,’’ Randi Mahomes tweeted.

About an hour later, Mahomes replied to a Wilson tweet wishing him well by replying “All good, brother.’’ The Chiefs never actually announced he had a concussion, and are hoping he’ll be back for the AFC Championship Game Sunday against the Bills.

Wilson made accidental helmet-to-helmet contact with Mahomes midway through the third quarter when he hit him high and stopped him for no gain. Mahomes got up woozy and wobbled to the sideline. He was check in the medical tent and then taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion. He was soon ruled out of the game, and replaced by Chad Henne, who sealed the victory with 13-yard scramble and a fourth-and-inches pass.

Browns defensive end Myles Garrett and quarterback Baker Mayfield defended Wilson after the game after players such as Cleveland native Travis Kelce said things on the field.

“I’m definitely praying for Patrick,’’ Garrett said. “I’ve known Pat since we were in high school and he’s always been a great dude. Nobody on our team is headhunting or going after a guy trying to hurt a guy no matter how good he is. We’re praying for his recovery. We’re praying for his success. Always been a quality guys. He does stuff for the community. He’s a leader on and off the field and you appreciate seeing that. Espe cially from a guy that caliber, just always trying to be a positive influence everywhere he goes.’’

Garrett said Kelce was one of the players saying things on the field about Wilson’s hit.

“Travis felt like that (the hit was illegal)….He’s passionate,’’ Garrett said. “That’s his guy. He is always rolling with Pat. I’m cool with Travis. He’s a good guy. I’ve hung out with him a couple of times in the offseason.’’

But he doesn’t want Kelce thinking or saying that any of the Browns are dirty.

“I don’t ever want him to feel like my guys, my team is out here trying to injure somebody or put them out of the game,’’ he said. “We’re trying to put some bruises on you and we’re trying to hurt you, but we’re never trying to injure someone or take them out purposely. We’re trying to play how it’s supposed to be played, with sportsmanship and integrity.’’

Mayfield also expressed his concern for Mahomes, who’s a good friend, but added “Mack’s not a dirty player.’’

Wilson also defended himself, Tweeting “never been a dirty player in my life. I just try my best to play fast and make plays. Don’t try to insult me and keep the threats to yourself.’’
