The tradition-rich Owasso Rams thumped the Ponca City Wildcats 19-0 in a district game played Monday at the Po-Hi baseball field.

Owasso, winner of 13 state baseball championships over the years, wasted little time in getting out in front Monday. The Rams scored three runs in the first, second and third innings and then exploded for 10 runs in the fifth.

Ponca City struggled at the plate against the pitching of Jackson Farrell, who struck out 13 Wildcats on his way to pitching a nohitter. In the game, 49 of the 67 pitches Farrell threw were strikes. Ponca City had one baserunner in five innings.

Pitching for Ponca City were Brody Wicker, Jaxon Testa and Hunter Freeman.

The Wildcats and Owasso were scheduled to play again Tuesday night in Owasso. Ponca City’s record is now 4-18.
