Recently, the Ponca City Girls High School Team competed in one of Oklahoma High School Bowling regional qualifiers. With one of the strongest teams in many seasons, the Ladycats qualified directly into the semifinals averaging 140 for the 8 game seeding round. Best 3 out of 5, Ponca City split the first two games against Lone Grove. Throwing games of 153 and 166, the team narrowly missed a repeat visit to State Championship losing by 2-pins and 3-pins, respectively. All-Region Recognition went to team captain and 4-yr starter Jessica Hamlin for her leadership and high scoring capability with an average 1st ball count of 9.25 pins. Freshman Kimberlyn Hamlin and Sanaya Rabb rolled the ball consistently each averaged 8.3 pins on their 1st ball and closed a majority of their frames. Mallory Riley was the most improved bowler increasing her 1st ball count to 8.5 pins for the tournament. Madi Jernigan and Trinity Parcell had solid performances, each averaged 7 pins for a 1st ball count. First year bowler Sierra White, averaged 6 pins on her 1st ball count, gained experience in competing in the Baker format.
