ENID, Oklahoma -- The 7th ranked NOC Mavs routed Arkansas Baptist in the first round of the NJCAA Region 2 Tournament 94-50 at the Stride Bank Center in Enid.

The Mavs (21-1) face NEO Friday at 1 p.m. in the Region 2 Semi-Finals on Friday.

Avante Lederer led the Mavs with 27 points while Justin Wilson had 12 and JD Ray added 11.

Tyrel Morgan had 11 rebounds while Mark Berry added seven. Ray had 10 assists while Ray and Nate Goodlow had three steals each.

“It was good to get off to a good start against Baptist, said coach Donnie Jackson. “We did some good things to take away their best player and were able to force some turnovers to create positive energy.”

“Avante really came to play,” Jackson added. “We shared the ball well as a team, and got everyone involved.”

Wednesday’s game was never in doubt as the Mavs built a big 50-18 lead at half and were never challenged in the second half.

NOC shot 50 percent (37-74) from the field and 80 percent (12-15) from the line.

On Friday, the Mavs see NEO for the third time having beaten the Norse home and away during the regular season.

“It’s all about one game championships this time of year and we got our first one,” Jackson said. “Now we have another one game championship with NEO. They are going to make you make shots. We will need to be mentally locked in all 40 minutes if we want to continue advancing in the Region tournament.”
