BETHANY -- Both varsity boys and varsity girls cross country teams finished second in Thursday’s Oklahoma 7 Conference meet held at Eldon Lyon Park. Choctaw was the winner in both races.

Mason Blochowiak continued with his string of second place individual finishes, running the 5K event in 17 minutes, 28.04 seconds. Julia Looper was the top Ponca City runner in the girls competition running the course in 24:06.73.

Those running in the girls race included Looper, seventh place; Emma Steichen, 11th place, 25:34.17; Kennedy Brown, 12th place, 25:35.33; Lorin Scott, 13th place25:43.52; Ryanna Sylestine, 27th place, 31:09.56; Regan Loney, 31st place, 34:24.74 and Lindsey Alvarez, 33rd place, 35:33.58.

Ponca City runners in the boys race were Blochowiak; Burton Miner, 5th place, 18:32.08; Andrew Mitchell, 11th place; Chase Allensworth, 23rd place, 20:06.14; Ryan Sylestine, 25th place, 20:09.51; Joel Menchaca, 28th place, 20:14.73; and Keegan Goff, 43rd place, 22:32.59.

Members of the conference include Ponca City, Enid, Midwest City, Putnam City West, Putnam City North, Putnam City and Choctaw.

Ponca City didn’t have any runners in the junior varsity competition. The Wildcats will host a meet of their own Thursday at the Lake Ponca course.
