Jimmy (Jim) Lewis Stevenson

Jimmy (Jim) Lewis Stevenson, 88, died December 4, 2023. Jim was born August 11, 1935 at home in Hulbert, OK. He married Edith Ann Patton on February 2, 1955. Jim and Edith met in Illinois while he was working a summer job for Libby’s. Jim first noticed Edith when she was a contestant in the Pumpkin Festival pageant. He and Edith were married 58 years until her death in January 2013.

Mitchell LeRoy Childs

Mitchell “Mitch” LeRoy Childs was born August 11, 1950 to John J. and Rachel Daily Childs. He entered his eternal life on December 3, 2023 with his loving wife (of 27 years) Mary Ballesteros Childs by his side. He was a proud member of the Eagle Clan of the Otoe Missouria Tribe. Xra Sage (Old Eagle) was the name given to him by his uncle Mark Whitehorn. Mitch worked various jobs in his lifetime but the one that he was most proud of was serving his country in the US Marine Corps and the US Navy. Mitch was a Sergeant in the US Marine Corp. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a proud member of the Bravo Company Force Recon. Prior to his military duty he attended school at Red Rock High. In 2000 he and his wife made their home in Enid, OK. He loved to watch and cheer on the Kansas City Chiefs and the OSU Cowboys. Mitch loved to spend his time going on long drives with Mary, getting ice cream at Dairy Queen, visiting casinos, reading, playing golf, and his biggest love was shopping. Mitch would spend countless hours taking care of, playing with, and loving his pets Chloe, Thay Way, and Oreo. Mitch loved to take his brothers to eat or pick up their favorite meals and surprise them. He made sure they were taken care of even as his own health declined.

Dewaine Guy Orr was born May 30, 1944, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Gerald D. and Margola Burd Orr. Dewaine grew up in Pershing, Oklahoma, and moved to Ponca City, OK when he was in the eighth grade. A gifted athlete, Dewaine excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. He graduated from Ponca City High School with the class of 1962. After graduation, Dewaine played football on a scholarship at Northern Oklahoma College.

Joyce Wynn

Joyce Wynn passed away 11/28/2023. Joyce was born 7/29/1934 to Samuel T & Ida Mae Moore Taylor near Holdenville, OK. Joyce’s family moved to Ponca City in 1945. She attended school at Jefferson Elementary, Ponca City Junior High and graduated from Ponca City High School with the class of 1952. She married Robert (Bob) E Wynn on March 22, 1952 in Pawnee, OK. They made their home in Blackwell. They had two children, Marcia and Mark. Joyce was a stay at home mom until 1964 when she went to work for the Blackwell Public Schools in the administration office as a financial secretary and retiring from there in 1964 as the financial secretary/treasurer. Joyce enjoyed many activities over the years, attending her children’s sports and musical events, her favorite. She also enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golf and dancing (square, round & country western). Their trips to South Texas were also among the highlights where they made many friends from all over the United States, dancing, playing cards and cribbage. Bob lost his battle with congestive heart failure December 21, 2009. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Bob Hearon and nephews Bruce Hearon and Brent Taylor. Joyce is survived by daughter Marcia (Larry) Merrill of Dallas, TX, son Mark (Annmarie) Wynn of Ft Worth, TX, grandchildren Rachel (Stephen) Shaw of Rowlett, TX, Melody (Stephen) Himes of Edmond, OK and Caleb (Kristina) Wynn of Keller, TX. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
