Bill spent every summer from 1940 to 1951 as a horse wrangler at Kickapoo Kamp in Kerrville, TX. He then worked in meat inspection for a few years. On Christmas Day 1954, Bill met Mary Lou Burke. The couple married on July 2, 1955 and moved to Ponca City to start a life together. Bill opened his general veterinary medical practice where he practiced solo until December 1978. Bill and Lou then moved to Broken Arrow, OK, where he held numerous veterinary related positions until fully retiring in 2013 after 61 years of veterinary practice. After the passing of his wife Lou and son Tom Alexander, he moved to Stillwater, OK. He spent the remainder of his years living near his son, Ken Alexander, owner of Alexander Construction Company.

Bill had a wonderful and full life. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time at Grand Lake with his family, hunting elk in the fall and traveling with his wife Lou.

You were always sure to find him solving the daily crossword puzzle and taking note of all the birds that populated his backyard. Bill was sure to catch every Texas A&M football game and loved keeping up with his college friends.
