Sonya F. Ham longtime Ponca City resident passed away Tuesday evening, June 9, 2020 with her loving family by her side. She was born September 12, 1935 in Ponca City to Cecil F. Broyles and Sybil Leach Broyles.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2020 in the Grace Episcopal Church with Father Bill Martin and Father Caleb Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd fellows Cemetery under the care of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 13, 2020 and Sunday June 14, 2020 from 1p.m. to 5 p.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Everlasting Grace Fund in care of Grace Episcopal Church.

Sonya lived all her life in Ponca City, and she graduated from PoHi in 1953 and she then enrolled in the Ponca City Business College. She worked for Roberts Mfg. company and Grandview Osteopathic Hospital for a time until she began her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1958 to 1983 and AT&T from 1983 until her retirement in 1991 with 32 years of service. She met the love of her life on a blind date in 1961, Raymond E. Ham and on July 4, 1962 They were married in the 1st Presbyterian Church of Ponca City and made their home in Ponca City. During the time she met Raymond she was working on getting her pilot’s license which Raymond wasn’t to fond of flying so she compromised, and they started riding their motorcycle. After her retirement Sonya spent countless hours on another favorite hobby, Genealogy. She would research many generations of ancestors to create a record to be enjoyed by all her family members. Sonya also enjoyed sewing Halloween costumes for grandchildren and especially creating quilts for family, friends, church vestments and wall hangings. Sonya was an avid reader of English history, religion and mystery novels. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church, St Marth’s Alter Guild and the order of the Daughters of the King.

Left behind to cherish her memory is husband Raymond of 57 years,1 son; Raymond Ham Jr and wife Charlotte of Jacksonville, FL, 2 daughters; Sherry Oxford and husband Bud of Ponca City, OK and Lisa Jones of Pawhuska, OK, 10 grandchildren; Shaun Kendle, Ruby Anderson, Shane Pruett, Charlotte Pruett, Sybil Pruett, Deeyll Hubbard, Samuel Wadsworth, Shandise Brown, Matt Jones and Madison Ham, also surviving are 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 great granddaughter; Hailey Villarruel.
