Richard Edmond Disel, age 80, a longtime resident of Shidler, OK passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.

Richard was born on June 21, 1941, to Forest Edmond “Mike” Disel and Jessie Maurine Casey Disel in Nashville, TN. The couple raised Richard along with his brother Eugene Smith in Shidler, OK. Richard attended Shidler Public Schools and graduated High School in 1960 excelling in academics and as an excellent football player. After high school, Richard served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Richard was a master craftsman and made furniture,and jewelry among other things. He forged knives for family and friends and even make things for others by request. He was an avid fisherman, loved riding dirt bikes and motorcycles, he enjoyed Indian artifacts and looking for arrowheads with friends and family. Over the years he built several airplanes that he loved to fly. He also built a boat, a helicopter and a 1923 model T truck. Friends have said that he was the kind of friend that could not be replaced and that he always had a great humor about him. He was kind and helpful, always willing to help others who needed something repaired. He could fix most anything. Richard worked in motor repair and his most recent job was Mertz Manufacturing, Inc. in Ponca City, OK as the Maintenance Supervisor working there until his retirement. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his daughters, Tracy Bruce and husband, Michael of, Nowata, OK, Jamie Butler of Gentry, AR, son, Casey Disel and his wife, Jessica, of Spiro, OK; six grandchildren who he loved very much, Austin Bruce, Brayden Disel, Avery Butler, Gunner Polk, Evie Carlisle, Beau Polk, and Paisley Disel; niece; Kelly Smith-Troutman, nephew, James Smith, and several great and greatgreat nieces and nephews; his best friend, Brittany, who he always looked up to and dear friends, T-bo, Frankie, Bill and Pauline.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Eugene Smith and granddaughter, Lahrin Michele Bruce.
