Richard B. Gregg, age 91, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away January 7, 2021 at Via Christi Village, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Care is under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.

Richard was born on December 19, 1929 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to George and Margaret (Wright) Gregg. Richard grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1950. On August 3, 1952 he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Cooper. The two went on to have three children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In the early 1950’s Richard began working for his father at Gregg Transfer and Storage. In 1969, he took over his father’s business and in 1976 he discontinued the transfer portion of the business and changed the name to Gregg Mini Storage, which he owned for the remainder of his life. In his younger days he enjoyed flying his own plane and traveling to Alaska and Oregon to go deep sea salmon fishing. In his later years he enjoyed telling stories, most of which were based on true events to some extent.

Richard was an overly kind and generous person. He served as a “temporary” Boy Scout Leader for Troop 1 at the First Christian Church for around 14 years where he taught Sunday School for a number of years as well. His favorite pastime was being an ornery husband, father, and grandfather. He had a contagious laugh and smile.

Survivors include his loving wife Mary Lou Gregg of the home, sons David Gregg and Tracy (Janna) Gregg of Ponca City, OK and daughter M. Alisa Falwell (Bruce) of Yukon, OK and all of his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Preceding in death were his parents George and Margaret Gregg and three brothers; Robert, Harold and Donald.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society.
