Martha Evelyn Blanchard Yancey, “Evelyn,” passed away peacefully at her home in Yukon, OK on January 2, 2020. She was

88. Evelyn was born July 5, 1931 to Sadie Nadine Rogers Blanchard and Charles David Blanchard in Daisetta, Texas.

Evelyn graduated from Hull-Daisetta High School in 1948 where she was on the Bobcat cheer squad and women’s basketball team.

After high school Evelyn worked for Gulf Oil Company in Houston before moving to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1961 where she was a professional mom and was later employed by Air Systems Components.

Evelyn was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Becky Yancey Slovacek and Denise Yancey Clark and was affectionately known as “Mema” to her granddaughter Brandi Clark and twin grandsons Michael and Daniel Slovacek.

Evelyn was a long-time resident of the Broadway Plaza Complex in Ponca City where she was a member of the Board of Directors. She was well known in the complex, especially for creating and gifting many colorful afghans to residents of the complex and to cancer patients.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Sadie Nadine Rogers Blanchard and Charles David Blanchard, her beloved, inseparable, identical twin sister Margaret Ethelyn Blanchard Tew and her brother-in-law Tommy Tew.

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Becky) Yancey Slovacek and her husband Ed Slovacek of Edmond; daughter Denise Yancey Clark of Yukon; grandchildren Brandi Clark of Yukon, Michael Slovacek of Oklahoma City and Daniel Slovacek and his wife Cristen Slovacek of Oklahoma City; great grandson Spencer Slovacek of Oklahoma City, and niece Liz Fels Solorio and her husband John Solorio and their son Trevor Walker of Ponca City.
