Dale King, 78, of Ponca City, Oklahoma joined his beloved family members in Heaven after a lengthy illness on January 22nd, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Dale was born on July 4th, 1942 in Oklahoma City to Kenneth C. and Ruth Fanning King. Dale attended Oklahoma City schools before moving to Ponca City with his family. In 1961 Dale started his lifelong career at Soft Water Inc. (Quality Water) and retired in 2006. Dale married the love of his life, Sandra Joyce Neal, on December 14th, 1963 at Evangelical United Brethren Church. Dale and Sandy welcomed two sons into the family, Mark on December 12th, 1964 and Jimmy Ted on February 12th, 1969.

Dale was an honored technician at Quality Water. From being praised for his punctual attendance to being requested by customers because of his excellent customer service during his 45 year career he received a national customer service award (or best service to customers in the quad state area of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma. The whole family loved going on fishing trips and most vacations were spent on the water of various lakes. Dale and Sandy loved dancing down at the American Legion together. Dale coached numerous sports for his sons during their elementary school years. Dale was also very active in the local American Legion where he was known for cooking at the pancake feeds and the Stag Nights.

Dale was an avid fisherman who earned the nickname “Crappie King” at the Kaw Lake Marina and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Anglers Society (F. O. C. A. S.) where he fished in tournaments with his son Mark.

Dale is survived by his wife Sandy of the home, his faithful companion Rosie the chihuahua, son Mark King and wife Sherry, sister Eva Taylor and husband Virgie, brother Jimmy King and wife Bernita, grandson Hunter King and wife Amy, grand daughter Lexie King, grand daughter Molly King and Dylan North, sister in law Linda Bufford and husband Dutch, sister in law Jo Carter and husband Danny. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dale had special nicknames for each one of his grand children, Hunter was Pardner, Lexie was Punkin’, and Molly was Puddin’. Dale had a special relationship with his sister Eva, speaking on the phone daily and always ending each call with “I love you”.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Ruth King, brother Wayne, brother Bill, niece Amy King Young, niece Patricia King Spore, in laws Ted and Opal Neal, and his loving son Jimmy Ted King.

At Dale’s request there will be no services and his body has been willed to the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Oklahoma.
