Joyce Urban was born Joyce Lee Curfman to Lee and Frances (Harman) Curfman on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1938. She was born in the Blackwell Hospital and raised on the farm at Nardin.

She attended Nardin grade school through 8th grade, graduating Blackwell High School with the Class of 1956. On August 15, 1956 she married Dennis Albert Lambring. To this union was born 2 boys and 2 girls. Mark Dennis, Frances Lee, LeAnn Joyce, and Paul Albert.

Joyce attended Nardin Methodist Church. She was active in the Sarah Circle (a part of the church) and Nardin Home Demonstration Club. When her children were in school she participated in Ag Boosters (setting up Fair Food Booth, Music Booster and Room Mother). She enjoyed activities with the kids.

After graduating Josie’s Beauty School in 1968 she worked in a couple of beauty shops before setting up her own beauty shop on the farm. She enjoyed all her ladies at the beauty shop while being a hairdresser.

After her divorce in August 1983 she moved on to working at Nickerson Farms and Dorm Mother at NOC. Later she moved to Stillwater working at the Bank and then managing apartments.

She moved back to Blackwell and married Elbert Fred Urban on February 29, 1988. Moving back to the farm and acquiring 5 bonus kids. Jynda (Gary Jenkins), Christa (Bill Starr), Frank, Monta (Dan Pollock) and Lyman (Melissa). Elbert passed away December 27, 2016.

She was a instructor at the Ponca City Beauty School until she retired. A member of the Ponca City Genealogy Club and was on the board for several years. She was also a member of various committees at her church and a member of the Tuesday Night Card Club at the Blackwell Senior Center. She loved being with the children, grands and great grands. Joyce and Elbert were host to 10 exchange students.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Mark and son-in-law Vernie Byler.

She is survived by her daughters Frances Lee (Philip Fenton), LeAnn Joyce (Vernie Byler) (Nelson Reagan) and son Paul Albert (Jana Lockwood).

Grandchildren Patrick Fenton and Kyle Fenton, Marc (Whitney) Byler, Anna Byler (Domenic Mussat), Bryan (Ashley) Reagan, Kayle (Carl) Fuchs, Ashten (Jefferson) Durkee, Trevor Lambring, and Kice (Holly) Lambring.

Great grandchildren: Brianna, Kassie & Taylor Fenton, Max, Axel & Ruby Byler, Madden and Easton Mussat, Grayson, Griffin and Connor Durkee, Baby Lambring to arrive in March and Baby Fuchs to arrive in June.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Fenton, Marc Byler, Bryan Reagan, Domenic Mussat, Carl Fuchs, Trevor Lambring and Jefferson Durkee. Honorary Pallbearers Patrick Fenton and Kice Lambring.

The family will greet visitors on Friday evening, January 15th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Because of COVID-19, masks are REQUIRED to attend the family visitation.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Blackwell First United Methodist Church with Pastor Daniel Gibbens-Rickman officiating. Due to social distancing guidelines the family will utilize the sanctuary and friends will be seated in the fellowship hall. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page. Burial will follow at the Mount Olive Cemetery at Nardin, Oklahoma.
