Janet Lynn DeBuhr Woods passed away on the 26th of August, 2019, at her home in Osage County at the age of 75 after a batter with cancer.

Janet was the first of 5 girls born to Charles Edward DeBuhr and Helen Lois Ward Debuhr in Caldwell, KS on the 22nd of June, 1944. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1962 and from Northern Oklahoma Junior College with an Associates degree before starting her career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Oklahoma City. Her career took her to Phoenix, AZ, Eugene, OR, Ponca City and Stillwater before she retired from the Tulsa, OK, office.

While in Oklahoma City, she met Earl Woods and they were married in Phoenix, AZ. Although the marriage ended in divorce, their love for one another never ended. They travelled back and forth through the years to see one another.

When her mother died in 2001, she moved into the homeplace and, with 2 other sisters, they continued their mother’s cattle business, which at times was difficult because Janet wanted every cow to die on the place. Every animal was a pet to her.

She had a passion for abandoned and abused animals, picking up every stray she ever saw between here and Tulsa. She gave generously to many animal right’s groups and to St. June’s Children’s Hospital. We will always remember her for her loving heart.

Rain in the middle of August is usually a blessing to a farmer. The day Janet died, God blessed us with a rain shower and welcomed her home.

We told Janet that the next time we meet, we would all be young and beautiful again (Kay is going to be skinny and in a bikini!).

Janet was preceded in death by her father on July 17th, 1960 and her mother on December 6th, 2001. Surviving her are her 4 sisters: Ruth Klinger (Doc Watson), Linda Snyder (Coby Snyder), Brenda DeBuhr (Jimmy Mauk), Doris DeBuhr Neff (Mark Schatz) and life-long friend Kay McNabb Jrab.

Also nephews Bryan Klinger (Becki), Coby Snyder (Sherry), Jesse Webb (Jeanne) and nieces Trina Snyder Walker (Steve) and Heather Eberhard Sayles (Timmy).

No service is scheduled. In memory of Janet, please contribute to your favorite charity in her name. paid obituary
