Edwina Ross Crain Deaton was born October 15, 1956, to Charles and Doris Ross in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She was a passionate student, played clarinet in the high school band, was a fantastic water skier and graduated from Northern Oklahoma College. She met her first husband, Garry Crain, while working at Conoco. They married and moved to Oklahoma City where they had two children, Linsi and Ross, and made many friends and happy memories. She married Gary Deaton in 1999. Edwina was a devoted mother known for creating over-the-top birthday parties, beautiful cakes and event costumes. She will be remembered for her sardonic humor and biting wit, creativity, dedication to family and for being a fun and supportive coworker at the United States District Court.

She is preceded in death by her father, Charles, and brother, Charlie. She is survived by her mother, Doris Ross of Ponca City, her children, Linsi Crain of Oakland, Calif., and Ross Crain of Atlanta, Ga., her husband, Gary Deaton of Oklahoma City, and stepson, Drew Deaton of Edmond, in addition to beloved children inlaws, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Edwina’s life will be 3 p.m., Saturday, August 15 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. In Ponca City, a graveside service will be 9 a.m., Monday, August 17 at Resthaven-Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, her children ask that her unconditional love and generosity be celebrated with calls to those you love and gifts to the Jesus House of Oklahoma City, a place they had volunteered as a family.
