Edward “Ed” Carillo age 91, of Ponca City, Ok went home Friday, September 4, 2020. Edward was born August 29, 1929 at home in Nobel county. He was the 2nd of 9 children. His parents were Maurilio and Effie (Carson) Romero. As a young boy Edward attended school in Pawnee and later graduated from Red Rock. In 1953 he enlisted in the United States Army serving his country. He later married Shirley Shaw and they had three children.; Eddie Carillo Jr., Debbie Diane, and Gloria Ann. He then married his wife Nadine and had another daughter Debora Kay.

Edward was a hard worker starting at a young age he picked cotton, and hauled hay. Edward started a career working as a Smutter in the Flour Mills in the Ponca City and Blackwell becoming an excellent Mill Operator. Edward retired after many decades of service to the Flour Mills.

He loved being outside, working in the yard, tending to his garden or just sitting on the porch. Going to the casino was one of his favorite past times. He also enjoyed fishing and going to Pow Wows. He loved to tell stories of his past and tell funny stories to make the grandkids laugh. He liked all sports, he was a champion boxer and an avid frontier basketball fan. Edward liked to go to Green Door to eat where he always sat at the same table. He was a simple man who loved his family dearly.

Edward leaves to cherish his memories; his wife Nadine Carillo of the home, daughters; Debbie Diane Payne and husband Earl, Gloria Ann Barbero and husband William, Debora Kay Thilsted and husband David, grand children; Jill Suggs, Danielle Kern, Robert Edward Massey, Whitney Smith, and Bryce Thilsted, great grand children; Piper, Eddie, Destiny, Trinity, Alex, Ehmmy, Gunner, Paislee Mae, Brooks, and Mack, one sister; Cynthia Romero, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends, Edward will be missed by all who knew him.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Eddie Carillo Jr., brothers; Jesus Romero, Sam Romero, Tony Romero and John Romero, sisters; Francine Davis, Flora Cline, Mildred Bains

Services are Tuesday 10:00 A.M. graveside at the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Kenner officiating. Services were entrusted to the Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services, friends can leave a memory for the family at www.poteetfuneralhome.com.
