David Lynn Singleton was born in Ft. Worth, TX, on September 22, 1964. He entered into eternal life with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 1, 2020. After boldly holding ALS at bay for 14 years, surviving a couple of strokes and a heart attack, and beating cancer twice, he defiantly succumbed to complications of COVID-19. Nevertheless, David went on his own terms, living passionately and worshipping God in spirit and in truth until he took his final breath at home, with family present physically and virtually.

David grew up in Ponca City, OK, and graduated from Ponca City High School, Oklahoma State University, and Sunset School of Theology. He resided in Lubbock, TX, Pensacola, FL, and Highlands Ranch, CO, before being lured back to the Sooner State by his high school sweetheart in 2007. David had a successful career as an accountant, and traveled throughout the country as director of sales and marketing for accounting software specializing in consulting with nonprofits and churches. Unquestionably, his first love was serving God through ministry. David led his first worship service at age 5 and preached his first sermon at age 12. Throughout the years he served in various churches as a worship leader, cell group pastor, choir director, youth minister and teacher. Most recently, David was a member of Capitol Hill Assembly in Oklahoma City and served as a worship team keyboardist. In 2006, David was diagnosed with aggressive ALS and told he would die within six months to two years. He decided not to, and poured his energy into serving God in any way he could for his remaining days. That is exactly what David did, inspiring countless people with his faith and courage and leading many to Christ.

David is survived by his wife of 13 years, Terrisa Singleton; his daughter Kimberly Southwood and her husband Shawn; his daughter Kendra Barrett and her husband, Jesse; his stepchildren Catherine, Brooke, and Thomas Phipps; and his precious grandchildren, Aspen and Adam Barrett. He is also survived by his mother, Wanda Leathers; his father, Thomas Singleton; his stepmother Linda Singleton; his sister, Karen Kidder; his stepsister Stephanie Marazas and her husband Mark; his stepbrother Bryan Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. His favorite scripture was, “For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” David is now experiencing the gain of knowing Jesus and basking in the glory of God, in perfect joy and health.

A public visitation will be held Monday, September 7, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Advantage Funeral Services South Chapel, 7720 S. Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City. Please honor the family by wearing a mask and practicing social distancing. To ensure the safety of those he loved, the funeral will be limited to immediate family only, but all are invited to watch a live stream of the service on the Capitol Hill Assembly Facebook page and website, Tuesday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. David will be interred at Moore Cemetery.
