David Alan Lewman, Ponca City resident of Ponca City, died late Saturday afternoon at Alliance Health Ponca City. He was 68.

The son of Fred Samuel and Vivian Jean Ramsey, David was born Dec. 12, 1951 in Ponca City. David grew up and received his education in Newkirk, and he graduated from Newkirk High School with the class of 1969. David then rode rodeo bulls for a few years.

In 1976 David and Connie Jo Preston were married in Newkirk, and they made their home in the White Plume addition of Newkirk.

David’s work history includes employment with Brown and Root Construction Company, H. B. Zachry Co. as a crane operator, and with Ronnie Kahle Farms for several years.

David was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Iron Workers Union. An avid OU football fan, David enjoyed pool, karoke, dancing, going to casinos, and spending time with his friends and family.

David is survived by his siblings, Fred and Bonnie Lewman, and Bud and Debbie Lewman, all of Newkirk; a special friend, Johna Lewis of Kildare; and several nephews and nieces.

David was preceded in death by his son Chad; his parents; and a sister Mary Ann Magers.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20 in Christ Church with the Rev. Chris Short officiating. Interment will follow in the Washunga Cemetery. Miller-Stahl Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Those serving as casket bearers will be Ronnie Kahle, Merle Engelking, Gary Tipton, Brandon Weant, Herald Leven and Shane Oldfield. Honorary bearers are Mike Belair, Louie Womack, Jim Martin, Blake Lewman, Rance Lewman, Randy Lewman and Travis Patterson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the David Alan Lewman Memorial Fund and mailed to the funeral home at P. O. Box 461, Newkirk, 74647-0461. paid obituary
