A very special person, Charles “Chuck” Mullin, passed away Sunday, July 12th, at his home in Peoria, AZ. He was surrounded by those he loved, and by those who loved him beyond measure.

He was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma, on March 6th, 1951, to Charles and Earline Mullin. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1969, and from Oklahoma State University in 1973. He remained a lifelong Cowboys fan.

Upon graduation from OSU, he entered the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. He completed his pilot training at Vance Air Force Base, and spent his Air Force career flying various types of aircraft. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield where he flew a C-21A Learjet in support of strategic operations. Lt. Colonel Mullin retired from the Air Force in 1995, and continued his aviation career in a leadership capacity with the Civil Air Patrol National Headquarters at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

He married the love of his life, Mellisa Mellon, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on June 26th, 1999. They spent the next 21 years together, and retired in Arizona in 2017. Chuck and Mellisa shared a very special love for each other, and were inseparable.

He was a very proud father of three amazing children; Jessica Boykin and her husband Chad of Tallahassee, Florida; Lindsay Amell and her husband John of Fayetteville, Georgia; and Patrick Mullin and his wife Elizabeth of Auburn, Alabama. He had 9 grandchildren that he adored, and they loved him dearly. He was an outstanding brother to his three sisters; Charlotte French of Frisco, TX; and Jeannie Mullin Cook and her husband Jim of Phoenix, AZ. His sister Janet (Susie) Henderson passed away in October of 2019. His many nieces and nephews adored their Uncle Chuck.

Chuck was a kind and gentle man and loved by all who knew him. He loved flying his model airplanes, driving his Shelby Mustang GT500, and spending time with his many friends. He also loved his Great Dane, Huck, and was an animal lover his entire life. He will remain in our hearts forever, and his family is blessed that they were loved by such a special soul.

If you would like to make a memorial donation in honor of Chuck, please consider the Regal Great Dane Rescue in Glendale, AZ, Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, or your local animal shelter.
